Midnights is the tenth studio album by Taylor Swift, released on 2022, through Republic Records. It is a concept album inspired by Swift's "sleepless nights." The songs explore themes of anxiety, self-criticism, regret, love, and heartbreak, moving away from the indie-folk style of her 2020 albums (Folklore and Evermore) and returning to an electronic-pop sound.
The album's sound is characterized as synth-pop, electropop, dream pop, and bedroom pop. It features a minimalist production style utilizing analog synthesizers, subtle drum machines, and vocal manipulations. The entire album was written and produced primarily by Swift alongside her long-time collaborator, Jack Antonoff.
