The album that established Megadeth as one of the defining forces of American thrash metal. Released in 1986, it combines furious speed, intricate guitar work, dark humour and politically charged lyrics, while already revealing Dave Mustaine’s ambition to take thrash far beyond straightforward aggression.  What makes the album particularly important is its combination of technical musicianship and raw attitude. Megadeth sound dangerous, unpredictable and genuinely hungry, with Mustaine’s distinctive songwriting giving the record a character that separated them from their peers.

The title track, with its instantly recognisable bass intro and cynical view of politics and society, became an anthem but the album is much more than one famous song. Dark, technical, aggressive and brilliantly twisted, Peace Sells... But Who’s Buying? remains one of the essential records of the classic thrash-metal era.
