A Journey in Darkness is the debut full-length album by the Swedish black metal project Ophthalamia, released in 1994. The album combines raw black metal aggression with melodic guitar work and atmospheric keyboards, introducing the dark fantasy concept and mystical atmosphere that became a trademark of Ophthalamia’s music. A Journey in Darkness remains a notable release of the early Swedish black metal underground.
