The album has a unique history and is described by its creator, René "Ash" Wagner, as a record that "refused to stay buried." The core tracks were recorded in just one weekend in September 2014 at Trident Studios in California. The material was left forgotten on a hard drive for years, as Ash prioritized the release of Era of Threnody (2017).
After 12 years, the drums were re-recorded in Las Vegas, vocals and mixing were finalized at AMP Studios in Duisburg, and the album was finally completed.
The music steps away from overly atmospheric elements, returning to a direct, raw, and "dirty" sound heavily influenced by classic heavy, death, and black metal. Ash drew inspiration from bands like Judas Priest, Accept, Deicide, and Obituary. The album artwork was created by Felipe Mora.
