Malthusian – The Summoning Bell CD

"The Summoning Bell" is the second full-length studio album by the Irish extreme metal band Malthusian. Arriving seven years after their critically acclaimed debut Across Deaths (2018), the Dublin-based quartet delivers a deeply oppressive and cavernous blend of Blackened Death Metal and Death/Doom. Produced by Greg Chandler (Esoteric) at Priory Studio, the album is characterized by its pitch-black, claustrophobic atmosphere, dissonant and jagged guitar riffs, bludgeoning blast beats, and multivariant, hellish vocal delivery. It heavily channels the dense, suffocating energy of bands like Incantation, Abyssal, and Portal.

The lineup on this record features founding members Johnny King (drums, ex-Altar of Plagues) and Matt Bree (guitars/vocals), joined by Tom McKenna (guitars, Grave Miasma) and Federico Benini (bass).
