Firtan blend atmospheric black metal with death metal elements on their fifth studio album, "Helios," creating a multi-layered and deeply intense sonic journey. The German band enriches their aggressive foundation by incorporating non-traditional acoustic instruments, electric violins, analog synthesizers, and ritualistic chants. This dynamic instrumentation guides the listener through a dramatic shift between fierce, technical blast beats and grand, melancholic melodies. Lyrically, the album serves as a poignant exploration of self-discovery and spiritual enlightenment, framing this inner quest not as an escape, but as a grueling conquest amidst the decay of the modern world.
