Blacksouls – The Touch of Death Wings (1995) lead a ferocious assault reminiscent of the era when thrash in Poland was beginning to mutate into something darker and more extreme. Far from the atmospheric explorations of modern acts, primitive energy and speed dominate here, with razor-sharp riffs and a production that emanates the characteristic “railway” feel of Eastern European studios of the ’90s. Their sound stands firmly on the foundations laid by Kat and early Vader, injecting thrash with an ominous, almost black metal aura in both melodies and vocals.
