Exhorder – Slaughter In The Vatican Vinyl

Slaughter In The Vatican is one of the most vicious and influential records to emerge from the American underground metal scene at the turn of the ’90s. Exhorder took the aggression of thrash and pushed it into something far nastier, heavier and more abrasive, helping lay important groundwork for what would become known as groove metal. 

Although often mentioned alongside the rise of groove metal, Slaughter In The Vatican is far too savage and chaotic to be reduced to a simple genre label. It is a product of the late-’80s American thrash underground, but one that points toward a heavier future.

An essential record for anyone interested in extreme thrash, early groove metal and the roots of the heavier American metal sound and a classic example of a band that was arguably far more influential than its commercial success suggested.
