"Nordic Gothic" is the critically acclaimed debut album by the Scandinavian supergroup Cemetery Skyline, released via Century Media Records. The band brings together prominent figures from the death and extreme metal scenes to create a melodic, melancholic gothic rock/metal sound heavily inspired by the late '80s and '90s dark rock era.
The members describe themselves as ambassadors of "melodic, melancholic, and dark rock." Their sound blends heavy guitar riffs, prominent basslines, and cinematic synth layers. Key influences include iconic gothic acts like Type O Negative, The Sisters of Mercy, Paradise Lost, Fields of the Nephilim, and HIM. Lyrically, Stanne explores themes of "northern solitude," heartbreak, existential dread, and the quiet introversion of Scandinavian life.
